FoodBorne on the Rise

In addition to Food Defense, the world is facing challenges that are on the rise regarding food safety. This information comes from microbiologists in the Americas and Europe.

"Organizations across the world are improperly using manure and human fecal matter for agrifoods. The centuries-old traditions of using human excreta on farmland is widespread in Asia, specially in China and Vietnam... More than 75% of farmers in the Nghe An province in Central Vietnam use fresh or partially composted human excreta as fertilizer for farmlands" States Michael P. Doyle, PhD a Reagent professor of food microbiology at the University of Georgia, USA, a leading authority in biological matters of food safety. Moving pathogens from one world region to another just aggravates the situation.
