, 28 December 2010: Iraqi Dates Processing and Marketing Company (IDC) activities for fruits, produce-dates and syrup achieves benchmark Food Safety Management System (FSMS) ISO 22000:2005 through applying as guidance US
Code of Federal Regulations Standards 21 CFR Part 110 (GMP) and 21 CFR Part 120 (HACCP). In sustaining GMP and HACCP applicable through FSMS ISO 22000 provides assurances that IDC products
are safe for consumption. This attestation of safe foods through FSMS ISO 22000 has been made possible by the collaboration of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and
the competence and tenacity of the assessment - team; The assessment - audit team has been formed in May 2010 and Stage I audit has been carried out in July 2010 and Stage II in November 2010.
The assessment - audit has been carried out by BRS Middle East & North Africa (MENA) operations through Mohammad Rahimi and Mahmoud Nabavi with the support of BRS Rim of the World Office in California
USA. The announcement granting FSMS ISO 22000 certification is resultant of BRS concurrence on the BRS MENA recommendation for certification from entirely impartial and competent BRS Core Team Delegates
from North America, Asia Pacific and Europe. The Core Team Delegates assign to review IDC encompass a Veterinarian, Food Engineer and
Microbiologist in ensuring that IDC FSMS ISO 22000:2005 concurs with BRS mission, values and vision with consumer - centric legally binding purpose. BRS, a USA certification authority, with competence in
regulatory affairs practices for safe foods. This project has been made viable with the collaboration of BRS Rim of the World Office California and BRS Middle East & North Africa.
 Among the fruits of Paradise the olives, grapes and the
fruit of the date Palm-dates are referenced in the Qu'ran. It is with this reverence that we carried out attestation of safe foods for the produce-date and syrup.
Obtained information demonstrates that this is Iraq first
FSMS ISO 22000 certification, which provides a sense or pride for the Iraqi Dates Processing & Marketing Co (IDC). IDC achievement came through the Food Safety Team organizing and demonstrating competence in managing the
regulatory affairs for safe foods - food safety. Safe foods is an expectation from customers and from consumers in a way that is transparent and that safe foods effectively flows in the food supply chain. Benchmark FSMS ISO
22000 to manage 21 CFR 110 and 120, GMP and HACCP, Standards provides a basis for palm-dates fruit, produce-date and syrup process activities that operate in auto-control mode to update and improve at par
with activities of the high quality level as Medjool dates from California and from anywhere in the world. This is a true credit to the competence of IDC Food Safety Team in Baghdad, Iraq.
