NEWS RELEASE ISO 22000 Registration

September 1, 2005 is the official release date of the International Standard ISO 22000. In November 2005 BRS commenced offering certificate of registration against FSMS (Food Safety Management Systems) ISO 22000. And in December 2005 BRS conducted the inaugural FSMS ISO 22000 Lead Auditor course. By year end 2006 BRS has conducted 10 FSMS ISO 22000 Lead Auditor courses combining countries of Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific, Asia, North America and South America. 

BRS ISO 22000:2005 certificates of registration requires that organizations address the Prerequisites Program (the fundamentals for food safety) namely PRP, Analysis of the Hazards leading into HACCP and other management requirements. Organizations already certified to ISO 9001:2000 with reference to ISO 15161:2001 may effectively flow into FSMS ISO 22000, equally organizations with HACCP, BRC, IFS and other food safety management scheme certifications may be to their advantage for transition into FSMS ISO 22000.

ISO 22000 is for organizations within the food supply chain wishing to meet contemporary requirements to best practices in manageing best food safety practices and methods and in fulfilling the expectations for registration bodies such as BRS. BRS, as an international registration body, is aligned and meets the requirements and guidelines set forth by ISO/IEC 17024:2003, ISO 19011:2002, ISO/IEC 17021 (fusing ISO 62 and ISO 66) and ISO/TS 22003 (as it publishes). The requirements of these International Standards are inclusive to BRS operating management system.
